A
company called Vacuum Mining was established by Bruce Simpson
in 1982 to design manufacture and sell a centrifugal fan vacuum
system for the mining industry.
This filled a niche market in the mining industry to reduce costs
of bringing broken ore from underground to the surface. The “Snuffler”
system commonly dubbed the “Super Sucker” was designed
to extract ore with the use of suction from a mine shaft to the
surface through an 8 or 10 inch pipe system to a depth of 200
metres. The sale of these machines throughout Australia and overseas
varied from the small underground contractor to major Australian
mining companies. These machines revolutionized the shaft sinking
industry at that time.
In 1992 another niche in the industrial and mining
process industry was recognized. This was brought about by the
constant requests from individuals to use the Snuffler’s
capabilities in environments for which it was not designed. KingVac
was formed to design and manufacture a purpose built, robust,
superior but user friendly industrial vacuum system.
In 1994 another company, Mini Dredging, was created
to design, build and manufacture mini dredges to fill yet another
niche, mainly in the mining process industry. The dredges are
specifically designed to dredge process water dams, tailings dams
and cater for the dredging of plastic lined dams, without damaging
the liner. They are contracted out to mine sites throughout Australia.
In March 2003 Mini Dredging successfully dredged an acid
dam at a Nickel mine in Western Australia. The dredges
were also designed around Australian transportation regulations
so as to only require the use of 1 drop deck truck for cheap mobilization
costs Australia wide or overseas.
